Unix/Linux System Administrator

 

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

 

The position of Unix/Linux System Administrator will be responsible for the implementation and administration of complex enterprise systems in a robust multi-tenant environment. This will involve working with other team members supporting CMS Systems, Forms and other Digital Assets.

 

The Unix/Linux Administrator for Enterprise Systems has experience maintaining and supporting core web applications using a unified collection of technology services, tools, standards and control structures. The goal is to ensure the continuous delivery of IT Operations, Security, Network, and Collaboration to ensure that critical applications can respond effectively and perform against the demands placed on them. The Unix/Linux Administrator is responsible for analysis, testing, and configuration of Management tools in support of off-the-shelf Enterprise Applications to support monitoring, metrics, and analytics associated with IT service health and service level monitoring.

  

KEY SKILLS:

  • Strong technical skills supporting complex enterprise web-based system architecture and use of

        API’s

  • Technical aptitude towards developing and implementing project plans
  • Strong teamwork ethos with effective communication and writing skills
  • Performance monitoring and analyzing, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), and other Web Applications.

 

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise teams in the planning, designing and utilization of the technology. Consult with project teams on the best use of the technology.
  • Answer technical queries and provide support to project teams and end users. Mentor and train end users in the use of the technology.
  • Provide continuous monitoring of the technology to proactively identify and resolve issues. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve complex problems impacting service levels.
  • Perform backups and recoveries for the supported technology product. Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Administer security permissions. Assure compliance to required Corporate standards, procedures, guidelines and processes, including audits.
  • Develop the architecture, frameworks, common components, and best practices for the technology.
  • Document the configuration of the system, system controls, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Assist in maintaining Enterprise Application tools.
  • Assist in application monitoring deployment
  • Monitors and supports the information technology and systems infrastructures.  
  • Conducts moderately complex analysis including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of information technology tools.  
  • Serves as the back up to respond to user requests for system needs and upgrades or handles request that are more complex.  
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues in an efficient manner with little to no supervision.  
  • Administers, runs tests on, and maintains operating system and related software.  
    Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and, when necessary, performs data recoveries.  
  • Performs root cause analysis, diagnostics, and monitoring on various production systems.  
    Identifies opportunities for process improvements and works with team members to implement efficiencies.  
  • Effectively create and maintain relevant systems documentation and user guides.  
  • Apply scripting methodologies to automate systems Administration related tasks.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience supporting CMS systems in a complex environment
  • ITIL framework experience
  • Linux commands and shell scripting
  • Familiarity with Splunk and Dynatrace ideal
  • Associates Degree/IT Trade School diploma
  • 5-10 years of relevant, progressive experience in systems administration and application support
