Overview

SoluStaff is actively recruiting a Web Developer for its customer, a large government organization in Center City Philadelphia.  Be an active part of our customer’s Digital Transformation team, while leading content migration efforts and product feature development of a website that receives over 6 million visits / year.  The Web Developer will improve and expand upon various aspects of the platform supporting our customer’s website. You’ll be an expert in your discipline, working closely with a cross-functional team of designers, developers, UX professionals, and researchers to make new features for the customer’s web presence, at scale.  Your work will make the website experience better for users looking for customer services and for customer employees that maintain, update and improve the website content. You’ll help create new features while maintaining the existing infrastructure. SoluStaff is considering W-2 employees and consultants for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Build new features and components for phila.gov, including creating new applications as needed.  Customer technologies utilized: JavaScript (Vue.js + jQuery), PHP, Python, Docker, AWS, and WordPress.  Work closely with a cross-functional team to ensure deliverables meet design, content and UX standards.
  • Ensure the solutions you create meet web standard best practices, and accessibility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with non-technical colleagues on new features, ensuring a good technical fit.
  • Help support the cloud infrastructure that hosts website in AWS.
  • Address bug fixes and improve the maintainability of existing code.
  • Build reusable, testable, and efficient code.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience writing web software.
  • Completion of a BS or MS degree program at an accredited college or university, which has included major course work in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Software Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experience in PHP
  • Experience coding for a CMS (WordPress preferred)
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js preferred)
  • Experience using Git, or similar version control systems
  • Experience with SQL, or other relational database usage
  • Strong foundation in web fundamentals - JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience building modern client-side web interfaces
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Experience creating WordPress plugins and themes and deploying applications to AWS
