Overview

SoluStaff is actively recruiting a Software Engineer for one its customers, a large government organization in Center City Philadelphia.  The Software Engineer will work with a team to develop a real-time, two-way voice translation application.  The application will be designed to provide a way for our customer to better interact with its non-English speaking residents.  The Software Engineer must be familiar with developing applications on Amazon Web Services and tying those API’s together in an event driven architecture using AWS Lambda and other services.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Innovation Management, SMEs, UI/UX designers, and other software engineers to design and build the application
  • Collaborate to design application architecture through use of design patterns, determining application components, data modeling
  • Proactively identify application inefficiencies and bugs. Propose solutions, development frameworks and code libraries to mitigate and address the issue and rebuild applications
  • Create and run unit tests
  • Build reusable, testable, and efficient code and libraries for future use utilizing version control and CI/CD
  • Implement security and data protection
  • Integrate front-end and back-end aspects of the web application
  • Design and implement of data storage solutions
  • Work closely with UX designers to identify, analyze, and resolve usability issues

Key Deliverables:

  • Responsive front-end web application capable of recording and playing audio and interacting with AWS API’s
  • At least three AWS Lambda functions utilizing the following AWS services
    • Amazon Transcribe – Speech-to-Text
    • Amazon Translate – Text-to-Text
    • Amazon Polly – Text-to-Speech

Qualifications

  • Completion of a BS or MS degree program at an accredited college or university, which has included major course work in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Software Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years Professional experience programming using Python, Node.js/JavaScript, .NET, or Go
  • Ability to build scalable projects in AWS utilizing Lambda functions to call various APIs (Python preferred)
  • Proficiency in building responsive front-end web applications (Vue.js preferred)
  • Communication and collaborative skills necessary for working in a team environment
  • Problem-solving skills using analytical and critical thinking
  • Application and solution design
