SoluStaff is actively recruiting a highly motivated, detail oriented Business Intelligence Analyst (Cognos) for a large healthcare organization in New York City.  The ideal candidate will understand the unique needs of Healthcare and its use of Business Intelligence, data reporting, business applications and healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

The Business Intelligence Analyst will collaborate with end users, analysts and technical teams in support of the organizations Business Intelligence Program. The Business Intelligence Analyst will develop a fundamental understanding of the business and have the expertise to build analytical models to deliver on organizational requirements. The candidate must have prior working experience with Cognos 10.x, prior experience working in a healthcare environment, and familiarity with healthcare regulations, business processes and data.

 

  • Partner with end users, business analysts and technical teams to understand business needs, define project requirements, and translate them into functional specifications
  • Navigate complex data systems using BI platform tools, SQL, through the wide variety of complex enterprise-wide wide databases.
  • Leverage data extraction and statistical analysis to provide historic, current, and predictive trends in key performance indicators
  • Interpret and analyze results of predictive/data mining models, and provide concrete suggestions/feedback to the business
  • Lead planning and implementation of projects and track deliverables against objectives using appropriate tools
  • Develop ad-hoc reports to provide critical cross-functional information to support decision-making and strategy formulation
  • Review databases for optimized views (analysis cubes), linkages and reformulation.
  • Understand data structures, business logic, provide technical support for all report applications.
  • Collects & documents requirements for solutions and collaborate with development on completing the technical design.
  • Strong database understanding, SQL optimization skills and OLAP tools. (preferred)

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent plus 5 + years direct work experience in business analysis of data visualization and data discovery tools.
  • Strong ability to tactically address and be an advocate for data management tool design
  • Ability to work with Analytics and technical development teams; build and maintain technical/project documentation; participate in project estimation
  • Experience with Cognos application design and best practices required
  • Knowledge of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) process
  • Excellent verbal communication, written and presentation skills required
  • Experience working with waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills required
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Visio, and SharePoint.
  • 2+ years of SQL experience & query design
  • 1+ year creating web-based reporting applications
  • 2+ years of SQL server/database knowledge
  • Prior Healthcare Informatics Experience working in the development, analysis and implementation of information systems in a health-care environment or analyzing public health data is preferred.
