Overview

SoluStaff is actively recruiting an experienced Program Director for its customer, a large quasi-public healthcare organization. The Program Director will assume the prime leadership position for building, managing and growing its customer’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) Program Management Office (PMO). We are seeking a dynamic, energetic highly organized and experienced individual who will be responsible for all PMO staff members working on the Epic EHR Program. This individual must work collaboratively with Senior Leadership, the EHR Program Director and Executive Sponsor as well as executive Leadership on this important initiative. The successful candidate should have experience with Epic implementations but other EHR experience with vendors such as Cerner and Allscripts is welcome.  S/He will be responsible for all 15 projects within the EHR program and ensure that they are defined, tracked and communicated in a consistent and effective manner. This individual will be responsible for coordination with the Activation team, managing and directing all go-live implementations, for establishing and managing the EHR PMO deployment team and working with the staff at the facilities going live.   The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in establishing and delivering successful PMO methodologies and expertise at the program level.  S/He should have experience in the implementation and use of a Portfolio and Program Management (PPM) tool. The successful candidate must have a proven track record for fostering collaborative work environments, be able to mentor all levels of the EHR PM staff and demonstrate excellent leadership and conflict resolution skills. This individual will be responsible for managing the PMO budget and contracts associated with the EHR Program.   In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with the IT PMO Program Director, the ITPMO staff and report directly to the Assistant Vice President of IT Strategic Planning and Program Development.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of the 15 project work streams associated with the Electronic Health Record  (EHR) Implementation Program

  • Responsible for the management, coaching and mentorship of all EHR PMO staff members.

  •  Educates the EHR project managers on their role within Project Management and assisting business owners with the PM methodologies.

  • Explains how objectives will be met, the approach, known issues, risks and assumptions.

  • Reviews project status reports to assess success issues and/or risks associated with the individual projects and escalate necessary issues appropriately.

  • Responsible for defining the resources needed for program implementation and creation of project schedules and work plans.

  • Responsible to work with all stakeholders throughout the EHR Program.

  • Assists the AVP, Senior IT and HHC business in developing, executing and communicating the EHR Program’s vision, goals and activities.

  • Acts as a liaison and conduit for information flow between IT Program and Project Managers, NCIOs and external stakeholders.

  • Communicates and champions the project requirements necessary to execute the EHR Program.

  • Works with the PMs to continually ensure expectations regarding scope, schedule and budget are met and lessons learned are applied moving forward.  

  • Provides continual analysis on workflow and demand to ensure that program meets deadlines.

  • Explains how objectives will be met, the approach, known issues, risks and assumptions.

  • Reviews project status reports to assess success issues and/or risks associated with project/program requests

  • Acts as a liaison and conduit for information flow between EHR Project managers, EHR Program staff, Leadership and business and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Education or related Science field.

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Education or related Science field.

  • PMP Certified.

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.

  • Must have 15+ years of IT and business/industry work experience, with at least ten (10)  years of leadership experience and ten (10)+ years of managing multiple, complex diverse projects, programs and/or project portfolios. 

  • Experience with EPIC implementations is a plus. EHR experience with Cerner and/or Allscrips is also welcome. 

  • Experience in a health care environment is a plus.

  • Proven skills in developing and managing EHR Implementation projects and/or programs.

  • Experience with implementation and working with a (PPM) tool such as Plan View, Power Steering and/or Clarity.

  • Sound understanding of Information Technology in a Health care setting and its application to achieve business objectives is preferred.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with individuals and teams at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff members and IT leadership

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical and time management skills.

  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively juggle competing priorities while managing stakeholder expectation.

  • Excellent program/project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and delivery skills.
  • Wide knowledge of IT systems, processes and capabilities.
  • Experience with Epic implementations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite: PowerPoint, Word, Project, Excel and Visio.
  • Excellent SharePoint skills.
  • Experience working with current PPM tools on the market.
  • Must be able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical personnel effectively.
  • Capable of bringing creative approaches to project leadership.
  • Possesses problem solving, team building and conflict management skills.
  • Must be able to collaborate and coach effectively in a team environment with minimum or no supervision.

Will require off-hour and weekend work as needed.
